The first PhD day of European students in Aerospace Engineering is organised by AIDAA, the Italian Association of Aeronautics and Astronautics.

The workshop is open to all the European PhD students in Aerospace Engineering courses from European Universities as well as to PhD graduates having obtained their title after January 1st 2019.

The presentations will be collected and shared open access, so allowing the participants to disseminate their activities.

AIDAA was founded in 1920 after the first world war by scientists and high officers of Italian Army and Air Force with the aim of promoting research, meetings, exchange of informations, with the final goal of promoting the civil air transport in peace time. After a century from the foundation, AIDAA wishes to celebrate its centennial by collecting together the PhD students in Aerospace engineering from Universities and research centers of Europe, for the first time.

The PhD students will have the possibilities to share their activities to all the colleague in Europe and, thus, to create a net of the European young researchers; moreover, it will be possible to have a complete overview of the whole research activities in Aerospace in Europe.



The presentation followed by Q&A,
will be given on-line with a central management
and allow all the participants:


to show brief information
on University and Department


to present the background of the research and connections, if any, with the general goals of Europe on Aerospace


to discuss on the methodologies used
avoiding too technical details


to present the results obtained or expected


to propose future developments
and possible requests of collaborations

Birthday of Galileo Galilei

The first edition of the PhD Day is dedicated to Galileo Galilei, the father of modern science. The date of the event is the same as Galilei’s birthday, as an homage to his huge personality and an inspiration for all participants.

Aerotecnica Missili e Spazio (ATMS)

The registration fee includes the AIDAA membership for the years 2021 and 2022. As members of AIDAA, participants will have free access to the papers of AIDAA journal “Aerotecnica Missili e Spazio” (Springer Nature)

ATMS was founded in 1920. The centennial anniversary will be celebrated in volume #100 (2021), publishing original translations of the papers included in Volume #1.

ATMS supports the PhD Days with a special issue to be included in volume #100; participants interested in this publishing opportunity can submit their works to ATMS specifying the special issue option “2021 PhD Days”.
